Calm the Soul pottery

Shannonbridge Pottery, a family-run  business, has created, a beautiful ‘Calm the Soul’ tea set.  It is now available for individual shoppers or retailers at:

https://shannonbridgepottery.ie/calm-the-soul/

The set is available in its entirety or as individual pieces.

Any or all of the pieces can be bought by retailers who will be listed here as they become known to us.

A percentage of every piece of pottery sold will contribute to the upkeep of our monastery. Our thanks go to Charlie and Maria for for using their skill and creativity to spread the Calm the Soul message!

Designed with input from the sisters and using our sister's original drawing, the set also includes a quotation from the end of St. Matthew's Gospel: "I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS", a message we need to hear over and over again. This word of the Lord sums up the substance of the 'Calm the Soul' book: God is near us and is for us. The idea of reading a book over a cup of coffee or sharing a cuppa with a friend very much evokes the idea of the warmth, closeness, love and friendship which is at the root of God's relationship with us and underpins the message of the book. The great Catholic social activist-and now candidate for sainthood- Dorothy Day understood this well when she said: “My strength returns to me with my cup of coffee and the reading of the Psalms.”

We pray that all those who encounter this word of God 'I am with you always' in the ordinariness of having a cup of tea or coffee may experience tha Lord's presence with them in a powerful and real way.

Mary is mother, she always assists us: when we are working and when we are looking for work, when we have clear ideas and when we are confused, when prayer flows spontaneously and when the heart is desolate: She is always there to help us. Mary is the Mother of God, our mother and mother of the Church. So many men and women, young and old have turned to Her to say ‘thank you’ and to beg a favour. Mary takes us to Jesus and Jesus gives us peace. Let us turn to Her, trusting in her assistance, with courage and hope.
