A family-run pottery business, Shannonbridge Pottery, taken by the beauty of the Calm the Soul design, have created, (with the enthusiastic support of the sisters), a lovely ‘Calm the Soul’ tea set which can be seen in the slider photo. We wish our friends at Shannonbridge Pottery the very best in this venture. Designed with input from the sisters and using our sister's original drawing, the mug also has a quote on it from the end of St. Matthew's Gospel: "I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS". This word of the Lord sums up the message contained in the 'Calm the Soul' book: God is near us and is for us. The idea of reading a book over a cup of coffee or sharing a cuppa with a friend very much evokes the idea of the warmth, closeness, love and friendship which is at the root of God's relationship with us and underpins the message of the book. The great Catholic social activist-and now candidate for sainthood- Dorothy Day understood this well when she said: “My strength returns to me with my cup of coffee and the reading of the Psalms.”
We pray that all those who encounter this word of God 'I am with you always' in the ordinariness of having a cup of tea or coffee may experience tha Lord's presence with them in a powerful and real way.
